About the Children’s Department

By Penny B. - Last updated: Wednesday, June 17, 2009

The Children’s Department houses books, magazines, videos, learning kits, and more for babies, toddlers, and elementary school children.  Family Fun Story Time for babies to school age children is held on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-9:50 followed by 10:00 and 10:30 times available for scheduled groups.   Story Time activities include songs, stories, and crafts and helps introduce little ones to small groups.  School-aged children from PreK-5th grades have their own program, Book Connection, held on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm.  Month-long sessions are developed around a theme.  The afternoon begins with a snack and a story, and ends with a take-home craft related to the current theme. All programs are free.  Children 7 and younger must have a parent stay with them, however, we encourage a parent of older children to remain on site. Printable flyers are available when programs are offered.  Come check it out!

Mobile catalog page

By Kate S. - Last updated: Wednesday, April 18, 2012

If you visit our website from your mobile device, you’ll notice some changes! Our catalog page (the place the search for titles, access OverDrive e-content, and renew your books) now has a slick new mobile interface! Preview it in your browser by clicking here.

The catalog page should automatically display in the mobile format when you visit it from your phone, tablet, etc. You shouldn’t notice any changes to the catalog if you’re accessing from a regular computer.

Let us know what you think! We’re excited about this upgrade!

Larger selection of e-books

By Kate S. - Last updated: Wednesday, April 18, 2012

When you search the library’s catalog page, you’ll see some new resources available. They are e-books from Project Gutenberg and downloadable audio books from LibriVox.

A few tips:

- Project Gutenberg & LibriVox titles are usually classics that are no longer under copyright restrictions.

- These titles have no due date. Once you download them you can keep them forever! You might want to choose a Gutenberg title over a OverDrive title for that reason.

- Gutenberg e-book titles are available in a variety of formats (HTML, EPub, Kindle, etc.)

- Most LibriVox titles are MP3s
