Local Children’s Authors to Visit in October

Una Belle Townsend is know to many parents and children as the librarian at Riverside School in El Reno. She will be at the library for a story time and book sigining on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Una Belle has three children’s books to her credit, “Grady’s in the Silo”, “The Racecar Driver’s Night Before Christmas”, and “The Oklahoma Land Run”.

The library will also host local physician Dr. Barbara Malcher who will share her latest children’s book “Tonia Baby Bee and Her First Friend” with a reading and book signing Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Library Offers Back-to-school Special

Summer is drawing to a close and it’s time to return required reading titles and paperback beach reads to the library. To encourage people to return overdue books, the library is offering two weeks of “Fine Forgiveness.” Overdue books returned August 15-26 will have any late fees forgiven.

“In spite of the heat, our circulation has been high this summer,” said Penny Beals, Children’s Librarian. “Returning library books checked out over the summer is an important part of resuming a school-year routine.”

Library users of all ages are encourage to take advantage of the fine forgiveness.
